What Makes Land Rover/Range Rover Tyre Fitting Different

Large and Specialist Sizes

Land Rover models use some of the largest tyres fitted to civilian vehicles in the UK. A Range Rover L460 on 22-inch wheels takes 285/35R22 tyres — a size not carried by most local garages. Defender 110 variants range from 255/60R18 to 285/40R22 depending on specification.

High Load Index

Range Rovers and Defenders are heavy vehicles. A Range Rover L460 can weigh over 2,600kg. The load index required per tyre is correspondingly high — typically 108–113 for large Range Rover variants. Using a tyre with insufficient load index on a heavy Land Rover is a safety risk.

All-Terrain vs Road Tyre Choice

TPMS

Modern Land Rover and Range Rover models (from approximately 2010 onwards) have direct TPMS. After a tyre change, the TPMS must be reset. Tyre Rescue carries Land Rover compatible TPMS reset tools. Reset is included with every fitting.
