Polestar 2 Tyre Guide (2020–present)

The Polestar 2 is available in Standard Range, Long Range Single Motor, and Long Range Dual Motor variants. Tyre size varies by trim and wheel choice:

Load index: 99+ required on all Polestar 2 variants due to battery weight (1,800–2,000 kg kerb weight depending on variant). No spare wheel — the Polestar 2 does not carry a spare. Volvo/Polestar supply an inflation kit for minor tread area punctures. Sidewall damage or large punctures require a replacement tyre — call Tyre Rescue immediately. OE tyre choice: from factory, most Polestar 2s use Michelin Pilot Sport 4 EV or Pirelli P Zero in the EV variant. Both are acoustic foam-lined to reduce road noise transmitted by EV drivetrains. When replacing, maintain an EV-rated tyre if noise performance matters to you.

The Polestar 3 is a large SUV platform shared with the Volvo EX90.

22-inch wheels: the Polestar 3 uses large 22-inch wheels on most configurations. This limits tyre sourcing — not all mobile tyre vans carry 22-inch stock as standard. Call ahead to confirm stock for your specific size. No spare wheel — inflation kit only. Call Tyre Rescue for any non-repairable puncture. Load index: 106+ required. Do not fit a lower load index on a Polestar 3.

Polestar 4 Tyre Guide (2024–present)

The Polestar 4 is a coupe-SUV with staggered fitment.

Staggered fitment — the Polestar 4 has different front and rear tyre sizes. This means front and rear tyres cannot be rotated. When calling Tyre Rescue, specify which axle needs replacement. No spare wheel — inflation kit only. The Polestar 4 is a performance fastback with no spare wheel provision.

Polestar TPMS Reset

All Polestar models (2, 3, 4) use direct TPMS sensors. The Polestar connected app often displays live tyre pressure from TPMS sensors.

After tyre fitting:

1. Inflate all tyres to the correct pressure (sticker inside driver's door, or Polestar app)
2. Sit in the vehicle, start the car
3. Navigate to: Car Status > Tyre Pressure in the Polestar touchscreen
4. Select Calibrate and confirm
5. Drive at 30+ mph for 5–10 minutes

If the TPMS warning persists after the above, a sensor may need replacement. Our technicians carry Volvo/Polestar-compatible TPMS equipment.

Polestar models share Volvo's commitment to EV acoustic comfort — which means several Polestar-recommended tyres use acoustic foam lining on the inner surface to reduce road noise.

Polestar EVs are also notably heavy (the Polestar 2 weighs around 2,000 kg in Long Range Dual Motor form — more than many SUVs). This puts additional demands on tyres:

• Higher load index — do not compromise on this
• Faster wear — expect 15,000–20,000 miles from most tyres vs 25,000+ on equivalent petrol cars
• Better wet grip needed — greater mass requires more grip to stop safely on Scotland's wet roads
