The BYD Atto 3, Seal, Dolphin, and Sealion range have launched in the UK market and are rapidly gaining registrations in Scotland. As EV-only vehicles, BYD cars have specific tyre requirements that differ from petrol equivalents.

BYD Atto 3 Tyre Guide (2022–present)

The Atto 3 is BYD's mid-size crossover SUV — the most popular BYD model in Scotland.

Do not fit standard-rated 94 or 95 index tyres. OE fitment: the Atto 3 is typically fitted with Hankook iON evo or Bridgestone Turanza T005 A EV tyres from factory. Both are EV-specific compounds optimised for the heavier load and regenerative braking patterns of electric vehicles.

BYD Seal Tyre Guide (2023–present)

The Seal is BYD's electric fastback saloon, comparable to Tesla Model 3.

The Dolphin is BYD's smaller, more affordable EV hatchback.

Sealion 6 DM-i PHEV load index: the plug-in hybrid Sealion 6 is heavier than the pure EV version due to its dual powertrain. Minimum load index 104. Do not fit a lower rating. No spare wheel on EV variants. The DM-i PHEV may carry a space-saver spare — check your specific vehicle handbook.

BYD TPMS Reset

BYD models use direct TPMS sensors. After fitting new tyres:

1. Inflate all tyres to the correct pressure (driver's door sticker)
2. Start the vehicle
3. Navigate to: Car Settings > Tyre Pressure > Reset TPMS in the central touchscreen
4. Select the option to recalibrate and confirm
5. Drive at 25+ mph for 5–10 minutes

If the TPMS warning light persists, the sensor may require replacement. BYD uses standard TPMS sensor formats compatible with most diagnostic equipment — our technicians can reset and replace TPMS sensors for all BYD models.

Why EV Tyres Matter More on a BYD
