Isuzu D-Max Tyre Fitting Scotland: Sizes, Load Ratings & All-Terrain Guide

Mobile tyre fitting for Isuzu D-Max in Scotland. Factory sizes 265/65R17 and 245/65R17, LT/C-rated requirements, all-terrain tyre advice for Highland use, and TPMS reset guide.

# Isuzu D-Max Tyre Fitting Scotland

The Isuzu D-Max is one of Scotland's most practical working vehicles — found on farms in Aberdeenshire, Highland estates, construction sites across the Central Belt, and with outdoor businesses throughout rural Scotland. As a light commercial pickup, the D-Max has specific tyre requirements that standard car tyre centres often do not stock.

Tyre Rescue fits tyres for all D-Max generations across Scotland, including C-rated and LT-rated commercial tyres.

Isuzu D-Max Tyre Sizes by Generation

D-Max GenerationTyre SizeLoad Rating
D-Max Gen 1 (2004–2012)245/70R16111S (LT requirement)
D-Max Gen 2 (2012–2020)245/65R17111H or 111S
D-Max Gen 3 / Blade / XTR (2021+)265/65R17112H
D-Max V-Cross (2021+)265/65R17112H
D-Max AT35 (Arctic Trucks)285/70R17Arctic Trucks OE
Load index requirement: the D-Max is a light commercial vehicle with a payload of up to 1,000 kg. The tyre's load index must match the vehicle's maximum axle loading. Never fit a standard passenger tyre (LI 94–99) on a D-Max — the vehicle requires commercial-grade tyres. LT vs C rating: in the UK market, D-Max tyres are typically specified as standard load or XL rating at high LI numbers (109+). "LT" designation (Light Truck) is the US system; European equivalents are the commercial load ratings. Confirm the load index matches the vehicle placard before fitting.

Best Tyres for Isuzu D-Max in Scotland

For On-Road / Motorway Use

If the D-Max is primarily a commuter or road vehicle with occasional light off-road:

  • BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 265/65R17 — the most popular choice for Scottish D-Max owners; excellent on mud and snow, 3PMSF rated, acceptable road noise
  • Toyo Open Country AT3 265/65R17 — quieter on road than KO2, still strong off-road
  • Falken Wildpeak AT3W 265/65R17 — outstanding in wet and mud, competitive pricing

For Off-Road / Farm / Highland Estate Use

If the D-Max is used regularly on mud tracks, farm access roads, or Highland estate ground:

  • BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM3 — aggressive mud tyre; significant road noise but outstanding grip in deep mud
  • Nitto Trail Grappler MT — popular Highland estate choice; good balance of mud and rock performance
  • Toyo Open Country MT — strong performance in Scottish peat and mud terrain
Scottish Highland note: the D-Max AT35 (Arctic Trucks edition) comes with specialist 35" Nokian Hakkapeliitta tyres from factory. Replacements for the AT35 are non-standard and must be sourced specifically — call us to confirm availability.

For All-Season (Mixed Road / Light Off-Road)

  • Michelin CrossClimate 2 Van (where available in size) — 3PMSF rated, acceptable for light off-road
  • Nokian Seasonproof C — designed specifically for light commercial vehicles in Scandinavian and Scottish conditions

D-Max Tyre Pressure Guide

The D-Max is rear-wheel-drive with a separate rear axle (ladder-frame chassis). Correct tyre pressure varies significantly depending on load:

Load ConditionFrontRear
Empty/light load35 psi (2.4 bar)35 psi (2.4 bar)
Half load38 psi (2.6 bar)42 psi (2.9 bar)
Full payload40 psi (2.8 bar)50 psi (3.4 bar)

Confirm exact pressures on the vehicle door pillar sticker — the above are approximate typical values for the Gen 3. Running at low pressure under full payload causes rapid sidewall wear and increases blowout risk.

TPMS on Isuzu D-Max

Isuzu D-Max (Gen 3, 2021+) uses direct TPMS sensors. After tyre fitting:

  1. Set tyre pressures to recommended values
  2. Start the engine and let idle for 2–3 minutes
  3. Drive at 30+ mph for 5–10 minutes
  4. TPMS light should extinguish automatically

If it persists, the sensor may need programming using an Isuzu-compatible TPMS tool. Our technicians carry the necessary equipment for common TPMS reset procedures.

Gen 2 D-Max (2012–2020): standard models often do not carry TPMS — verify your specific vehicle using the instrument cluster.

Spare Wheel on D-Max

The Isuzu D-Max carries a full-size spare wheel mounted under the rear of the load bed. This is one of the advantages of the D-Max for rural and Highland use — you can continue driving after a single puncture. We recommend the spare tyre matches the other four tyres in brand, size, and load rating.
