The largest island in the Outer Hebrides. Stornoway is our operational base for Lewis. We cover the full island including Carloway, Ness, Point, and the Butt of Lewis area.

Harris (HS3, HS5)

The southern part of the Lewis-Harris island. The Golden Road (B8083) along Harris's east coast is particularly demanding on tyres — a popular tourist route with sharp rocks close to the road surface.

North Uist (HS6)

Accessible via the Harris ferry to Berneray and causeway. We cover Lochmaddy and surrounding North Uist communities.

Benbecula (HS7)

The central island linked by causeways to North and South Uist. Home to an airport — useful for drivers who need tyres before a flight connection.

South Uist (HS8)

Connected to Benbecula by causeway. We cover Lochboisdale and surrounding South Uist communities.

Barra (HS9)

The southernmost inhabited island. Reachable via the Oban ferry to Castlebay. Response times here are the longest in our network — please call as early as possible.

Coordinating with CalMac Ferries

If you need tyres brought to an island, we work with CalMac's freight booking system where required. For scheduled (non-emergency) tyre orders, we can pre-ship tyres to island destinations and arrange fitting with local partners.

For emergency callouts on Lewis or Harris, we aim to have a fitter on the ferry or on-island within the same day where possible.

Response Times in the Western Isles

Response times vary significantly depending on ferry availability:

• Stornoway (Lewis): typically same-day with morning call, next-day for late calls
• Harris: add 1–2 hours to Stornoway times
• North Uist / Benbecula / South Uist: typically 24 hours from booking
• Barra: typically 24–48 hours from booking

Tips for Outer Hebrides Driving

1. Check tyre tread before you take the ferry — the islands' roads are unforgiving
2. Carry a spare — for remote island driving, a spare or foam sealant is strongly advised
3. Know your ferry times — a tyre issue near a CalMac terminal can sometimes be coordinated with our on-island team
4. The Golden Road (Harris): reduce speed on the east coast route — rock edges and cattle grids cause damage
