# Tesla Tyre Fitting Scotland: Model 3, Y, S & X
Tesla is Scotland's most popular electric vehicle, with high adoption particularly in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen. Teslas have specific tyre requirements that differ from conventional cars — higher load ratings, acoustic foam, and no spare wheel. Getting the wrong tyre on a Tesla is a safety risk.
Tyre Rescue fits tyres on all Tesla models across Scotland, 24 hours a day.
Why Tesla Tyres Are Different
High Load Requirements
Teslas are significantly heavier than petrol equivalents due to battery packs. A Tesla Model Y weighs approximately 2,000kg. Each tyre must carry more weight, requiring a higher load index — typically 97–107 depending on model. Fitting an under-rated tyre is dangerous and voids the tyre warranty.
No Spare Wheel
Teslas do not include a spare wheel. If you have a flat, you cannot change it yourself. Mobile tyre fitting is the only resolution — there is no run-flat contingency and no on-board spare.
Acoustic Foam
Many Tesla-spec tyres include acoustic foam on the inner surface to reduce tyre noise in the near-silent cabin. Common options: Michelin 'Acoustic', Continental 'ContiSilent', Pirelli 'Seal Inside'. You can fit a standard tyre — the correct load index is mandatory, the foam is recommended.
